Teaching Shaolin Hung Mei
The teaching structure at Shaolin Hung Mei is unique in several ways. First, and foremost, each of the active Shī Fù has over 30 years of training experience. With very few exceptions, a minimum of at least 8 years of training are required before being eligible to even assist teaching in class. In addition, the Shī Fù are all “first generation U.S.” having studied directly with Tai Shī Fù Tonny Kho (太師父許敬唐), the Grandmaster who brought Shaolin hung Mei to this country.
At SHMKF, we believe that martial movement involves increasing levels of subtlety especially as students become more advanced. As a result, while a single training session may have as many as 25 or more students, the same session would be staffed by at least one Shifu and 2 assistants, resulting in a student/Teacher ratio of approximately 8:1 or less. Properly instructing the nuances of our movements requires such attention in order to develop the highest level of quality.

“…I’ve always felt that the greatest lesson I’ve learned as a SHMKF student is that what we do in class… can be successfully applied to every area of my life”.
